After achieving 90% recall I randomly selected one of the relevant documents the system didn't find and started over using that document as the single seed document.
If the system had so much trouble finding that document, it must surely be rather different from the other relevant documents and would serve as a very weak seed.
I was able to hit 90% recall with CAL even with the single weak seed.
